Ethical Living Flashcards
Why would Christians choose to live ethically?
Christians want to live in a way that shows obedience to God and pleases him and in doing so they demonstrate the authority and worth that they give to God in their lives. This means that they choose to live in ways that are ethical. This can influence what they choose to buy, what moral decisions they make and what careers they have.
What are some examples of ways Christians try to live ethically?
- toilet twinning
- fair trade products
- choosing to buy products that have been made from recycled materials which demonstrates their concern for the planet
- by considering how the products they are consuming have been made, whether the workforce is likely to have received fair pay and have good working conditions - fair trade products
- using renewable sources of energy - the Methodist church promotes the use of solar panels on its church buildings
- by working with organisations such as Trees for life to help increase reforestation
How does Jesus influence ethical living?
While Jesus was on Earth, he regularly met the needs of the people who came to him. Likewise, Christians aim to be aware of the needs of people in the world and to respond effectively.
