ETC Flashcards
What does complex one do?
Complex one takes NADH’s electrons
How does c1 take electrons?
It is more electronegative than NADH
What does the energy lost from the electrons do?
The energy is used to pump out protons form he matrix and into the intermembrane space
What moves electrons from c1 to c2 and from c2 to c3?
Q or Quinone
What moves electrons from c3 to c4?
C or Cytochrome C
Where do the protons in the inter membrane space go to?
The re-enter through the ATP Synthase
What happens at the ATP Synthase
The flow of protons through Fo causes the shaft to contort at Fi, adding a phosphate on to ADP======>ATP
Where does FADH2 enter the electrons transport chain?
It enters at c2.
What does FADH2 oxidize to
It oxidizes to FAD
What is chemiosmosis?
The use of a proton gradient to drive the production of ATP
Where do the protons enter/exit the ATP Synthase?
Enter Fo, exit Fi
Oxidative Phosphorylation is what?
Production of ATP via a proton gradient.
