1
Q
10 Diagnosis and problems that increase risk of malnutrition?
A
Trauma Anorexia Stroke Cancer Hiv/Aids Nausea/Vomiting/Diarrhea Anemia Diabetes Kidney Disease Liver Disease

7
Q
How is REE Found?
A
Harris Benedict
8
Q
TEE activity factors?
A
- Confined to bed: 1,2
- Low Activity: 1.3 (Most people in hospital)
- Moderate Activity: 1.5
- High Activity: 2.0
9
Q
TED factors?
A
- 1.2 Kcal: sig. wt. loss, major surgery, moderate infection, body trauma, cancer, COPD, ventilator, long bone fracture, severe open wound, HIV, burns20% of body, severe infection
- 1.8-2.0: multiple fractures, burns over 20 % body, severe infection
10
Q
Protein Needs?
A
- Adults: 0.8 g/kg/day
- 65+: 1.0 g/kg/day
- Major surgery, moderate infection and trauma, small open skin blisters, open wounds, dialysis, low alb/pre: 1.2 g/kg/day
- Sever infections and trauma, major wounds and burns, very low alb/pre alb: 1.5-2.0
11
Q
Fluid Needs?
A
Normal: 30 mL/kg/day
Increased (Dehydration, diarrhea, draining wounds, fever, ostomy, burns): 35 mL/kg/day
- Always use CBW to estimate fluid needs unless:
- Edema
- Ascites
- Fluid Overload
12
Q
For all calculations use CBW unless?
A
- Significant wt. change in a month
- Edema, ascites, of fluid overload
*Then use UBW
