EST Flashcards
Anchoring Advantages & Disadvantages
CCU MADTS
Advantages:
no complex systems with thrusters, extra generators and controllers
no chance of running off position by system, failure or blackout
no underwater hazard from thrusters
Disadvantages:
Limited Manoeuvrability once anchored
Anchor handling tugs are required
Less suitable in deeep water
Time to anchor out varies between several hours to several days
Limited by obstructed seabed (pipeline, seabed)
Features of AHTS
DAMMN DAMW WF TROJCST
Adopted seaworthy design
small auxiliary cranes
very maneubrable with bow & stern thruster
modern vessel equipped with DP system
Two navigational consoles facing toward and aft
Large deck space for decking anchor (for cargo)
Auxiliary wrinches to reel extra wire (old psv for shifting deck cargo)
Cargo tank space for drilling mud (for some new PSV)
Winches for towing and anchor working chain (not as powerful)
Large wire storage capacity for AH/towing wire (auxiliary tugger to carry newer spare wire)
cargo tank space for fuel (smaller)
May be fitted with triplex lifting to facilitate joining of shackles
stern roller with two individually rotating drums
open stern with whalback design for towing/ anchor handling operations
Has a J hook
Chain locker for stowage of chian
1 or 2 set of shark jaws
1 or 2 set of towing pin
Crewing
RSVETH
soley responsible for recruitment & deployment of crew members onboard company vessel/ mobile platform
source for crew from specialised oil and gas employment agencies
verify personnel compentency and relevant exprience for the job
employ skilled and experienced officer and crew, high level of safety required to reduce incidents
training requirements
collaborate with HSSE for HSSE related training
HSSE
GBISACNE
responsible for ensuring good practices and onboard vessel
breif and give instructions about corporate policies on regulation on Health, Safety, Security, Environment protection
Company HSSE regulation congruent to international & national regulation applicable to area of operations
SOLAS and MARPOL regulations
perform internal audit regularly and solicit feedback from shipboard personnel
aim to improve crew working conditions onboard
near misses or incidents reported for further investigation
result of investigation circulated for education and prevent it from repeating
Types of DP Certificate
Restricted to unclassed: training completed onboard unclassed DP vessel or DP class zero
Limited Certificate: classed DP 1 vessel
Unlimited Certificate: Classed DP 2/3 vessel
DP vessel classfication
0: Manual position control and automatic heading control under specified maximum environmental conditions
1: automatic and manual position and heading control, “
2: “”, during and following any single fault excluding loss of a compartment
3: “”””, including loss of a compartment due to fire or flood ( Atleast 2 independent computer systems with a separate back up system separated by A60 Class Division)
Drill Crew: Tool pusher
Recc
responsible for day to day running of rig
ensure all necessary equipment is available
leader- in charge of drilling department , reports to master or OIM
work closely with company man on actual drilling of well
Drill Crew: Driller
SODDS
Driller and tool pusher are upper supervisory positions
operates drill motor
primiary on-scene decision maker on rig floor
direct actions of assitant driller , motorman, derrickman & roughnecks to ensure smooth rig operations
determine speed and pressure of drill bit and how fast the tool gets pushed into the hole
Drill Crew: Roughneck
unskilled or slightly skilled labourer
drill crew working on derrick floor , screwing together sections of drill pipe while running or pulling of drill string
Drill crew: Derrickman
normally occupies top of derrick
guides stand of 90 ft long drill pipe into fingers at top of derrick while tripping out of hole
while tripping into the hole, pull the pipe out of the fingers and guide it into the top drive of the elevators
standing on fingerboards, move pipe between pipe racks, and the well bore during trips in/out of the hole
physically demanding and wears a safety harness when up in the derrick
Marine Seismic Crew: Party Chief
responsible for succes & quality of survey
overall in charge of operations, captain will follow party chief
Marine Seismic Crew: Seismic Obeservers
assisted by Junior observers
perform data acquisitions and process through survey activity
Marine Seismic Crew : Seismic Technicians
maintenance and immersion of sources & streamers
challenging in high seas
Marine Seismic Crew: Geologist
Analyse data acquire from seismic survey
BOSST VS BOSIET Which one is mandatory?
BOSST is MANDATORY for foregin going vessel
BOSIET is RECCOMENDED for MODU
it is guidance on basic training and is an add on
What is included in TSBB
Crew Basket
FROG
Swing rope
PSCRB vs TEMPSC Coxswain which is mandatory?
PSCRB is mandatory for officers and TEMPSC Coxswian is mandatory for crew
Same course for diff people
PFRB how many crew required?
2 certified crew
Chaser
used for deep water as pendendts will break due to wear
ensure both installation and break-out of anchor without having to use a pendant line/buoy
totally eliminate buoy, partly cable, reduce wear on system
cheaper than mooring line
ROV
tethered underwater robots
unoccupied, highly maneuverable, operated by a person aboard a vessel
linked to ship by tether (cables for electiricity, video, data)
attachments such as sonar, magnetometers, still camera, cutting arm
role: inspection, placing underwater manifolds for development, repair, maintenance
Features
thrusters: move navigate
camera/hydrophones, crew to see/hear
sensors
FIFI
FIFI 1: 2400m3 of water/ hour, 2 monitors
FIFI 2:7,200m3, at least 3 monitors
FIFI 3: 10,000m3, at least 4
