Democracy
A system of government by the whole population

Hitler had banned all political parties meaning the only party allowed to exist was the Nazi party

Abolished and their leaders arrested. Allowed Hitler to destroy a group that may have opposed him

Nazis’ secret police force. Monitored the German population for opposition or resistance to Nazi rule
Reichstag Fire
The Reichstag building burnt down. Communists were blamed because a Dutch communist was found in the building as it burnt
Opposition
People were threatened , imprisoned or even faced execution. Germans lived in fear of being interrogated by the Gestapo and being sent to concentration camps
