It is a tradition celebrated on the final day of the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca where sheeps are slaughtered as sacrifice, canned, and given to the poor.

This signifies the adherents’ willingness to celebrate Ibrahim’s complete obedience to the will of God and is a reminder of their own willingness to sacrifice anything to follow God; Quran 108:2 ‘So pray and sacrifice to your Lord.’

Thus this feast strengthens the spiritual connection between adherents and God following in the footsteps of almsgiving which is exhibited by Khadija who serves as a catalyst in providing charity.
