26
Transmission: excretion
feces
27
Transmission mainly via
ingestion
28
Transmission: route
fecal-oral
29
clinical signs ED: ..... hindlimbs, falling-earliest and most obvious sign!
incoordination
30

44
DDx: ED
-aujeszkys disease -teschrn's disease -streptococcal meningitis -salt or organic arsenic poisoning
45
DDx: PWD
-edema disease -swine dysentery -salmonellosis -erysipelas -pasteurellosis
46
diagnosis: material
-feces -bipsy (intestines, mesenteric LNs)
47
Tx: ED: no Tx > toxins allready in
bloodstream and there is no effective Tx
47
diagnosis: in the lab
-bacteriology-isolation of E.coli -histology
48
Tx: PWD: antimicrobials (5-7 days) > ABs in
water (or food) > electrolytes
49
prevention: good animal
husbandary and minimized stress > diet less protein (21-17%) more fibre > feeding probiotics > good vaccination schedule
