Public Order Unit Goal
To proactivley manage crowds at all levels of order and may be deployed as authorized by the POC or Commisonners officer to support internal or external police operations when normal response capabilities or expertise is exceeded.

Containement Goal
Containement is a defensive tactic to prevent an emergent situation from escalating.
Containement Perimiters
Outer perimeter-Boundary outlined at the outter limit of the frozen zone to which access is restricted to authorized personell only.
Inner perimerter - smallest possible area in which the incident can be contained wihtout endagering life or alarming the suspects.
Frozen zone- area between outter and inner perimeter. Only authorized resources are allowed in this area.
Containement Role (uniform member)
Outer perimiter interity may be maintained by uniform memebers while the inner perimeter integrity is maintained by ert.
Containement Role (ERT)
Inner perimeter maintenance until the arrival of TRU then will mainatin the external perimeter. ERT may be used to assist TRU with internal perimeter.
Barricated person definition
Person who has:
Established a defensive posistion
Possess a threat to life
Refuses to immediatley surrender.
Offensive tactics barricated person ERT
Shall only use offensive tactics if authorized by CIC or the officer believes on reasonable grounds that it is necesary to n protect against life or serious bodily harm and no other interventions is practible.
K9 Backup Deployment
Corrdinator/Sgt will consult with the requested will consider the following:
Criminal Background
Number of Suspects
Terrain and weather
Miminum number of officers (2) plus one for every added suspect
k9 backup unknown threat
Minumum of 2 plus handler and ERT sgt advised.
K9 backup with weapon no firearm
ERT coordinator or SGT will determine number of members based on:

location
type of weapon
suspects actions, behaviour/criminal activity
Evidence search Deployment
ERT coordinator will assing a search manager and will coordinate to establish the number of members required.

develop a search plan with the requesting investigator and make proper documentation/ notifications.
Dignitary/ Witness protection (Regional ERT coordinator)
Regional Ert Cordinator will consult with requester:
Ensure there is a threat
Determine level of response
Assign ERT SGT or member to be in charge
Ensure everyone is briefed
Ensure there is a liason member from the requesting agency

Maintain contact with liason officer of requesting agency
Ensure all memebrs attending have proper plainclothes, duty belt and all use of force
Ensure Regional ERT coordinator is notified at the completion of the detail
Prisoner Escort
Regionl ERT Coordinator shall consult with nearest TRU unit commander
If tru not available ERT members to be utilized
Assign ERT SGT
Ensure everyone is briefed on threat assessment, background of suspect, potential health and safety risks
Assign proper number of ERT members
Low Slope rope rescue goal
To have the capacity to perform a technical extraction and rescue of injured or deceased person utilising a fixed rope system.
Low Slope definition
between 15 and 40 degrees
Level 1 Slope rescue operator
trained to don rescue harness, descent slope, package patien and ascent slope using lift and haul system.
Level 2 Slope rescue operator
Must have level 1 and must be qaulified in tying knots, rigging and safety of a fixed rope. Must possess Basic Mountain rescue practices
Low Slope rope rescue deployment
best practice to have 2 level two but can be done with a single level 2
trained level 2 low slope operators will be responsible for scene assessment, tying knots and overall safety.
Level 1 will assist level two with the rescue.
Warrant service (goal)
To support the execution of non-high-risk controlled entry warrants.
ERT Member Use of Equipment
Shall maintain all issued ERT equipment while maintaining working order. Report to his regional ERT coordinator/Sgt of any lost stolen or damaged equipment.
Complete an incident report for the equipment
To be issued equipment as approved by the unit commander.

ERT is comprimised of specially trained teams deployed to each opp region and provincail traffic bureau
Warrant Services (ws) Mandate
The ERT WS program is designed for members to support the safe execution of non-high risk seach warrants
ERT members shall not participate in the execution of a judicial authorization to enter a structure unlsess they have completed the 1 week OPP ERT WS course and mandatory 2 day warrant service training days per year.

To suppoer the execution of non-high risk warrants.
