Q

What is “parallel distribution” - manner of info processing?

A

Informations goes through multiple structures at the same time but have different processing (Mesulam)

Q

What ERP activity occurs pre and post voluntary movement?

A

Pre: Readiness potential= slow neg wav 1 sec prior to movement (800-1000ms before action there is neural change)
Post: Large positive complex

Q

What did Shibasaki et al conclude from finger flexions and extensions study?

A

Identified 4 pre and 4 post motion components.
Last post- +300ms maximal in motor cx on app side to movement
Major pre= readiness potential, major post= N1/P2, P300

Q

What happened when they examined active vs passive (string pull) movement?

A

Passive= no pre-motion components (confirming they’re related to prep for voluntary movement)
Post was also different- maybe due to kinaesthesia (sense that detects bodily position/movement)

Q

What did Dchin & Lindsley conclude from their light flash stimuli study on ERP’s and RTs?

A

Larger amplitude P3 was associated with faster reaction time (press button at stimulus) -> Relationship between speed of motor response and P3
