Erosion is the wearing away of rock by water, ice or wind.

Hydraulic action:
A
The sheer force of the water pounding
against the rock. The water can also trap and force air into
cracks and joints.

A
Pebbles carried by the water grind against the rock
like sand paper

Attrition:
A
Pebbles being transported by the water bump into
each other and consequently become smaller and more
rounded.

Corrosion:
A
Alkaline rocks (such as chalk and limestone) are dissolved by acid in the water.
