Q

What is erosion by water?

A

Erosion by water is when running water like streams or rivers wears away banks and creates larger valleys as the process repeats the valleys get larger and larger.
For example, the Fish River Canyon is the largest canyon in Afrika and is made by Erosion.

Q

How does erosion create coastal landscapes?

A

The battering forces of ocean waves also erodes seaside cliffs. The action of erosion can take an array of coastal landscape features. Erosion can also make holes that later can form caves and when the water breaks through the back of the cave it can form an arch. Then the continuous waves can cause the arch to fall forming sea stacks and rock columns.

Q

How does wind contribute to erosion

A

Wind is a powerful agent of erosion. Wind-driven processes constantly transport dust, sand, and ash from one place to another. Wind can sometimes blow sand to dunes.
