Erin/ cards Flashcards
Capillary
- One cell thick
- Allow water, small solutes to pass between pores
- High to a low concentration
The Big Angry Elephant Stomped Some Children But Played Barbie
Thirst, body temperature, appetite, emotions, sleep, sex drive, childbirth, blood pressure, production of digestion juices, balancing bodily fluids
What is hydrostatic pressure and what does it do?
Pressure from heart contractions forces water and dissolved substance into blood plasma through capillary walls to surrounding tissues, this forms tissue fluid
What is happening during T wave
Final wave then shows ventricular diastole
What is happening during QRS complex?
Corresponds to ventricles contracting
Ventricular systole
What is happening during a P wave?
Arterial systole
(Atria contracting)
Where is the T wave of ECG?
Final wave before cycles repeats
Where is the QRS complex on ECG?
This is the big spike
Where is the P wave on an ECG?
First upwards spike on ECG
Heart muscle is myogenic- what does this mean?
Contracts spontaneously, stimulation of nerves is not needed for contraction
What is the link between cardiac cycle and the heart beat?
For every 70bpm there are 70 cardiac cycles per minute
Every 1 beat= 1 cardiac cycle
Where is the AV node situated?
What does it do?
- Bottom of the right atrium
- Responsible for rhythm for contractions
- Impulse atria- ventricles
Where is the SA node situated?
What does it do?
- Upper wall of right atrium
- Responsible for setting rhythm of pulse
What helps to fighting infections?
- White blood cells help kill pathogens and microbes
- Help build immunity
What is superior?
- They are important
- Anything going above heart and towards head
