Principle of Trust vs mistrust
Infant has to learn to establish trust in the people caring for them. If not met, then they will mistrust others
Principle of Autonomy vs Shame
Toddler learns independence and Autonomy by controlling body secretions, say no, and participating in play. toddlers who are over criticized develop a sense of shame
Principle of Initiative vs guilt
The young child initiates new activities and ideas. if over criticized they develop guilt
Principles of Industry vs Inferiority
Middle years of childhood are characterized by the development of new interests and activities. child takes pride in accomplishments. if over criticized they develop sense of inferioirity
Principles 12- 18 years
During Adolescents the body matures and thought process become more complex. New sense of self develops. if they cannot develop meaning of self they will experience confusion in one or more roles of life
