I will use long pieces of wood, joined together as a cross to form a stable, the edges of the crosses will be sharp, this will be expressionistic as it will depict Alan’s inner mind, the confusing mix of religion (the crosses), the horses (stables) and violence he commits the stabbing of the horses in Scene 34 (the sharp edges)

It will be ‘end on’( as the audience are part of society judging Alan

The golden altar in the middle will be inspired by altars from Ancient Greece

The original production involved all cast members sat on benches all the time, in my production I will use this as inspiration however the benches will be church pews instead and so will be long pews on either side of thr stage and the varnished pews similar too ones at Catholic churches, the pews will have horse heads carved into them instead of crosses, this will further depict the confusing mix of religion and horses that Alan has found, he is constantly feeling forced to worship Equus, and in the play he will constantly be in his ‘place of worship’
