Q

Weakness

A

Equity theory more applicable to individualistic cultures rather than collectivist. In individualistic cultures, people may be more concerned with equal rewards and costs in order for a relationship to be successful. however in collectivist cultures, family values or networks may be more important in maintaining a relationship, rather than focusing on rewards n shi. Relationships in collective may be successful due due cultural expectations and roles rather than equity

Cuzza buunk found no association between equity theory in a relationship and future quality and maintenance of a relationship. Therefore just cos relationship is equal in terms of rewards n shi, it doesn’t mean relationship will progress. People have free will to choose to continue with a relationship or not. And just because a relationship is equitable doesn’t mean it will last
