Negotiable
Means tradable; ownership can be transferred to another person
Equity
To have ownership in a company; can also refer to the security that represents that ownership
Capital Gain
Money made from ending your interest in a security after having received more from its sale than what had been paid for its acquisition
Cash Dividend
What might be paid to a shareholder from the company as a proportionate share of income held by the company
Stock
Aka an equity security; represented by the units of ownership called shares
Bullish
An outlook held by an investor that represents a belief in an increase in future value
Income
An objective that is in the form of cash payments to the investor derived from investments held
Capital Loss
Money lost from ending your interest in a security after having received less from its sale than what had been paid for its acquisition
Short
An interest in a security resulting from the borrowing of shares which subsequently are sold obligating the investor to eventually purchase more shares to return to the lender
Capital appreciation
Growth in the value of a security (or any asset) or over time
Bearish
An outlook held by an investor that represents a belief in a decrease in future value
Long
Description of the act of holding a security position
