Fire extinguisher

A

Pre flight check
-Required number available
-pressure gage indicator (Yellow arrow ) is in green band
-Lock pin has red plastic tie in place
-If the plastic tie is not red in colour, then this must be reported.

Remove from stowage and pull lock pin
Hold upright
Test it for a short burst
Stand back appropriately 2 metres from the fire
Aim nozzle at the base of fire
Spray in a side to side movement across the base of fire

Beacon

A

Pre Flight Check
-Required number is fitted
-Arming switch is in the armed position
- If any discrepancy, cabin log

-Remove it from storage
-Beacon will automatically activated by water contact if toggle switch is in the armed position
-On land, activate beacon by switching the Armed/off/on toggle to on position

Oxygen bottle 787

A

-Required number available
-Pressure gauge indicates minimum 1600 psi
-mask and tubing attach to the outlet
- Indication window shows red

On 78N aircraft, used oxygen bottle from forward stowage 1R must be replaced with a full bottle.

A

-Pressure gauge indicates minimum 1600psi

Remove and carry it by strap
Mask is attached to Hi outlet
Turn the valve on
Check that oxygen is flowing
Place the mask over mouth and nose, adjust the headband

PBE

A

-Look though window to check the PBE is inside
-Verify the replaced by date has not expired
-Check metallic seals are intact, if not cabin log
-If seals are broken, check the humidity indicator which will be blue or pink
-If it is blue, PBE is serviceable.
If it is pink, PBE is serviceable for up to 36 hours from the time of discovery after which it must be replaced

Operations
Remove the pouch
Remove the PBE
Grasp oxygen cylinders and pull apart
PBE 15 min of oxygen
Look for flashing green light or whooshing sound
The collapse of PBE is indication of the end of useful PBE

1 turn the handle containing the co2 bulb in a clockwise direction until the gas changes into the extinguisher

2 hold upright and aim at the base of fire

Can be used for inflight emergency announcements when the PA system is innovative
