What arteries are best for assessment of pulse rate in horses?
A
Facial artery (the most common one) (infront of the masseter m.)
Transverse facial artery (just below the eye)
Masseter artery (behind the masseter m.)
Dorsal metatarsal artery (lateral aspect of rear limb between cannon b. and splint b.)
Digital arteries (caudomedial and caudolateral aspect of each fetlock)
Last two are used in case of lameness when laminitis or foot abscess is suspected
