Equations and Inequalities Flashcards
Compound inequalities
Inequalities joined by AND or OR. (ex. 5
Constant
Term with no variable factor. (ex. 3)
Equivalent equations
Algebraic expressions that have the same value for all values of the variables. (ex. 3a + 2a = 5a)
Equivalent inequalities
Inequalities with the same set of solutions. (ex. x + 4
Union
Set that contains all of the elements of two or more sets. (ex. A = {3,7} B = {1,2,5} A U B = {1,2,3,5,7})
Intersection
Set of data laments that are common to two or more sets. (ex. A = {1,2,4} B = {2,4,6} A n B = {2,4})
