Equations Flashcards
Refractive index
n=c/v where n is the refractive index, c is the speed of light in a vacuum, and v is the speed of light in a substance
snells law
n1sinø1=n2sinø2
Goldmann Equation
Pressue=(rate of aqueous formation/outflow facility) + episcleral venous pressure
Prentice’s Rule
PD deviation=Hcm X P; where Hcm is height in cm deviation from optical center of glasses and P is the dioptric power of the glasses. Prentice law is that a lens will have a prismatic effect the further you get away from the optical center
Estimated formula for determining effect of glasses on strabismic patient
- 5 X P (of glasses) = % change to measure deviation. If myopic then measures more, if hyperopic then measures less
e. g. 40 PD deviation with -10 glasses=25% change. Since myope add this to the deviation= 10 +40 so a measured deviation of 50PD
How many millimeters below the optical center of the distance portion of the lens is the bifocal segment usually added?
2mm
