Equations Flashcards
How do you calculate force?
Force = mass x acceleration
F=MA
Force is in newtons
How do you calculate distance?
Distance = speed x time
D=ST
Distance in metres
How do you calculate momentum?
Momentum = mass x velocity
P=MV
How do you calculate Pythagoras?
A2 + B2 = C2
- Once you’ve found c2 you find the square root of the number
How do you calculate Pythagoras if you need to find b2?
B2 = C2 - A2
- Once you find b2 you then find the square root of that number
Where are the 3 sides for trigonometry?
- Adjacent is the bottom of the right angle
- Opposite is the side of the right angle
- Hypotenuse is the opposite to the adjacent
What’s the memory tool for trigonometry?
SOH CAH TOA
Sine = opposite + hypotenuse
Cosine = Adjacent + Hypotenuse
Tan = Opposite + Adjacent
How do you find the missing side?
For example, if you are trying to find adjacent.
- If the hypotenuse is 16 and the angle is 32°
- You will need to use CAH (cosine)
Therefore you type Cos32 x 16 = the adjacent
How do you calculate velocity ?
Velocity = change in position (displacement)/ change in time (s)
How do you calculate acceleration?
Change in velocity/change in time (s)
How do you calculate displacement ?
Final position - initial position
How do you convert radians into degrees
Multiply by 180 and divide by pi
How do you convert degrees into radians
Multiply by pi and divide by 180
How do you convert degrees into revolutions
Divide by 360
