A

Government building new water treatment plant. More sustainable due to clean water being available. Resulting in less people getting diseases.

A

Two light rails under construction to relieve road congestion. Trains are emission free to limit pollution. Much faster journeys compared to car. More sustainable as less people travelling by car, resulting in less pollution

Government improving rubbish collection, by making sure collection vans get to all parts of a city. More sustainable because there will be less waste. As a result less pollution, reducing diseases like cholera.

Government banning the import of small generators - communities being encouraged to run one larger generation which will produce less emission overall. More sustainable as better air quality, means less Co2 to breathe in.

Oando Foundation (charity) are aiming to create a sustainable education system in Nigeria, by improving school attendance and the quality of education on offer. It has also ‘adopted’ and renovated schools, reducing number of primary children out of school.

A

City centres tend to be heavily built up. Availability of land may affect how Land is used.

A

Land in city centre is often most expensive, due to lack of availability. Some land uses, can afford to pay high rents in orde to be in city centre

A

Planning affects land use patterns. Cities authorities often decide how they want a city to look, so they have plans showing which land uses will be allowed in different parts of the city?

A

Large industrial estate built in 1960 with factories making plastics and textiles.

Name three reasons to why Lagos has Grown.

A

Financial district and Culture are among the main themes as to why Lagos has grown. Lagos is the centre of Nigerian film industry ‘Nollywood’. It is an important centre for regional and global trade. It contains 80% of Nigerias industry and lots of global companies are located here
