What is IMD used for
Used by government and local authorities to target regen aid, allocate resources and target hotspots of crime
Change is measured using 4 foci:
Land-use changes, employment trends, demographic changes, levels of deprivation
Data may be quantitative or qualitative
Regeneration: Demographic Changes
People who live in an area; their age and ethnicity
Regeneration: Function
Determined by type of people who live there and manipulate influence on their lives

Used for shipping of goods into London
Regeneration: Reason for decline if docklands
Ships couldn’t fit in docks due to containerisation
Goods were being moved quicker and faster by air travel
