When do u inflate an Infant lifejacket & operation of inflation?
At an exit immediately proir to evacuating
Pull two red toggles to inflate
Use two oral mouthpieces for further inflation
To deflate push valve in center of mouthpieces
Once outside AC attach infant lifejacket lanyard to able body adult
Precautions of infant life jacket?
1/ Recommended for use by infants up to 4 years of ages or 16kg
2/ do not inflate infant lifejacket using oral mouthpieces b4 pulling on toggles as it may burst
( only to be given out in an emergency situation)
Handcuffs operation
How do you prepare handcuffs for use?
1/ prepare out of view of pax
2/ hold the handcuffs & set one side at a time
3/ gripping one side of handcuff, push the jaw through until the notch reaches the frame
4/ repeat again for other side of handcuffs
5/ the handcuffs are now set and ready for use
Handcuffs operation? X4
1/ Push the jaw firmly against the wrist of pax to be restrained. The jaw will flip through & teeth with engage
2/ to prevent handcuff from becoming to tight, use key to double lock, one at a time.
3/ visually check wire is no longer visible
4/ once pax has been restrained, re turn key to stowage
What are the handcuff precautions? X5
1/ be confident and assertive when using
2/ be careful not cause injury to the person being restrained
3/ avoid fitting over clothing
4/ offender shall not be restrained to any part of the AC at any time
5/ offender shall be able to walk freely if an evacuation is required
Handcuff preflight check?

Check handcuffs in stowage case
Check two keys are in front pocket of stowage case
Pre flight for BCF (fire extinguisher) ? X3
1/ standard
2/ safety pin in possession and secured with red plastic tie
3/ needle in green band of pressure gauge
BCF duration?
10 seconds
BCF operation? X5
1/ Remove from brackets
2/ Remove safety pin and red plastic tie
3/ Test spray ( hold upright)
4/ Aim nozzle at base of flames
5/ Use sweeping motion
BCF precautions? X13!
Use 1-2 m away from fire
Never hold BCF at an angle greater then 60°
Use of PBE is recommended
BCF is not a cooling agent
Ensure the nozzle points towards fire
Initial discharge can cause paper or fabric fires to scatter
Initial discharge may cause a flare up
Content of the BCF are toxic & can lead to dizziness, difficulty breathing, as well as eye, nose irritation
After discharge it can take up to 7min for agent to dissipate
Smoke should be cleared & signs of bcf content dissipated b4 removal of PBE or removal of oxygen masks
Leaks maybe difficult to detect
Note: if a BCF was found leaking report to CM & FD immediately and treated as a DG
BCF after use?
Replace safety pin
PBE duration?
15min
PBE pre flight check?
Standard
Check humidity indicator is not pink
Insure PBE is within expiration date checking the front of the PBE for date,
If unable to see expiry date on front of case, add 10 years to manufacturer date
PBE operation? X10
1/ Open box by lifting latch marked lift
2/Remove PBE from box
3/Grasp red strip with one hand & tear bag open
4/Remove PBE
5/ Pull ring marked “ Pull to actuate”
6/ Flow of oxygen will be heard, if not discard, get another
7/Widen next seal & put on PBE onto head
8/ Pull down to forehead to engage headband
9/ Ensure neck seal clear & maintained around the neck
10/ Pull PBE skirt down
REMOVEAL:
1/ Remove away from smoke or fire
2/ Brush hands through hair to break down oxygen build up
PBE precautions? X7
1/ After pulling to activate there may be a short delay b4 flow of oxygen is heard
2/ presence of strong odours inside PBE indicates seal is ineffective
3/ be careful when removing as generator at the back of PBE is hot!
4/ gaurd against feeling of invincible
5/ verbal communication may not be easy
6/ if wearing glasses ajust thro PBE fabric
7/ signs of smoke etc should be clear b4 removal of PBE
PBE after use? X5
1/ place in galley bench to cool
2/ one cooled remove plastic from lav waste bin & place PBE inside. Shit bin door & ensure fire seal is maintained
3/ lock lav door & monitor
4/ OBL will advise captain how many used and location
5/ after landing, hand to engineer
FD oxygen three settings?
100% mode: (100% oxygen provided on inhalation, regardless of cabin altitude)
Normal mode: ( at lower altitudes ambient air mixed with added oxygen during inhalation as cabin altitude increases percentage of ambient air is reduced until reaches 100% oxygen)
Emergency mode: ( provides 100% oxygen at a positive pressure regardless of cabin altitude. Gets rid of smoke/fumes & maintains visual protection)
What cabin pressure altitude will FD get an alert to fit their oxygen masks?
10,000 ft
How many seconds should the FD oxygen mask take to be fitted?

Precautions for ELTs
After evacuation activate one ELT immediately. If two ELTs are carried consider activating 2nd 24 hours later
The flashing light should not be used to indicate when to activate any additional ELTs as it will continue to transmit in a lower frequency until battery is dead
ELT pre flight check
Standard secured in brackets
