EPs Flashcards
Main driveshaft failure
- autorotation - accomplish
EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN
- Throttles — CLOSE.
- FUEL PBAS — CLOSED (illuminated).
- Rotor brake — ON.
- APU — OFF.
- Battery — OFF.
- Exit helicopter.
- Battery — OFF.
APU FIRE
- APU — OFF.
- APU fire PBA — ARM.
- READY/DISCHARGE PBA — DISCHARGE. Illumination of READY indicates fire bottle is ready for
discharge. Ensure indication changes to DISCH to show fire bottle discharged.
- READY/DISCHARGE PBA — DISCHARGE. Illumination of READY indicates fire bottle is ready for
- Helicopter — SHUTDOWN.
- Exit helicopter.
- Helicopter — SHUTDOWN.
ENGINE HOT START
*1. Throttle (affected engine) — CLOSE.
*2. FUEL PBA (affected engine) — CLOSE.
*3. START PBA (affected engine) — ENGAGE. Motor until MGT decreases below 150 °C or 2-minute
automatic timeout is reached.
4. Helicopter — SHUTDOWN.
Dual Hydraulic Failure
*1. Land immediately.
ENGINE FIRE ON START (EXTERNAL)
- Throttles — CLOSE.
- START PBAs — OFF.
- FUEL 1 and FUEL 2 PBAs — CLOSE.
- ENG fire PBA (affected engine) — ARM.
- READY/DISCHARGE PBA — DISCHARGE. Illumination of READY indicates fire bottle is ready for
discharge. Ensure indication changes to DISCH to show fire bottle discharged.- Helicopter — SHUTDOWN.
- Exit helicopter.
- READY/DISCHARGE PBA — DISCHARGE. Illumination of READY indicates fire bottle is ready for
ROTOR BRAKE PRESSURIZES IN FLIGHT
*1. Rotor brake handle — STOWED (full down).
If warning light remains illuminated and secondary indications exist:
*2. HYD 1 PBA — OFF (illuminated).
*3. COOLER PBA — HYD 2 (illuminated).
*4. Nr — MONITOR.
5. Airspeed — ADJUST 100 KIAS or less.
6. Land as soon as possible.
SCAS Hardover
- SCAS — DISENG.
- Aircraft Control — Regain.
- Airspeed — Less than 100 KIAS.
- Land as soon as practical.
- Aircraft Control — Regain.
Complete Loss of Tail Rotor Thrust/Pitch Control/Tail Rotor Components (while in
Forward Flight)
*1. Autorotation — ACCOMPLISH.
Complete Loss of Tail Rotor Thrust/Pitch Control/Tail Rotor Components (while at a
Hover)
- Throttles — IDLE.
- Autorotation — ACCOMPLISH.
- Helicopter — Shutdown.
- Autorotation — ACCOMPLISH.
Dual−Engine Failure In−Flight
*1. Autorotation — ACCOMPLISH.
Jammed/Fixed Pitch Tail Rotor Pitch Control
*1. Controls — ADJUST (Use power and airspeed to align the nose).
2. Execute a long shallow approach to landing and set up for the appropriate landing technique.
If fixed left:
3. Execute a hover landing.
If slight fixed right:
4. Execute a sliding landing. (Adjust power and airspeed to land with the nose aligned in the direction of
travel.)
If excessive fixed right:
5. Execute a sliding landing. (Utilize collective, airspeed, and throttle to land at the slowest groundspeed
possible with the nose aligned in the direction of travel).
Single−Engine Failure In Flight
*1. Controls — ADJUST.
*2. Stores — JETTISON (as appropriate).
If single engine flight is not sustainable:
3. Helicopter — LAND.
If single-engine flight is sustainable:
4. Failed engine — IDENTIFY.
5. Throttle (affected engine) — CLOSE.
6. FUEL PBA (affected engine) — CLOSED.
7. XFEED PBA — OPEN (illuminated).
8. INTCON PBA — OPEN (blank).
9. Engine Restart In Flight — As desired.
10. Land as soon as possible.
Engine Np Underspeed
- Controls — ADJUST (to maintain Nr and establish single-engine flight parameters).
- Stores — JETTISON (as appropriate).
- Affected engine — IDENTIFY (low MGT).
- Throttle (affected engine) — ADVANCE to DECU lockout.
- Land as soon as practical.
- Stores — JETTISON (as appropriate).
Engine Ng/Np Overspeed
- Controls — ADJUST (to control Nr).
- Affected engine — IDENTIFY.
- Throttle (affected engine) — Adjust manually to maintain 100 percent Nr.
- Land as soon as practical.
- Controls — ADJUST (to control Nr).
