A

VA of less than 3/60 with full VF
VA between 6/60 and 3/60 with severely reduced VF- tunnel vision
or 6/60 and above with a very reduce VF- espesh if lots of lower vf lost

A

Va of between 3/60-6/60 with a full VF
VA of up to 6/24 with a moderate reduction of field or with a central part of vision that is cloudy or blurry
6/18 with a large proportion of VFmissing

how do u get partially/ fully sight impaired

A

a consultant surgeon must make this decision
they have to sign and complete a certificate of vision impairment. Lots of certificates including- BD8, CVI, BP1 or A655

Have to take into account VA and VF

whats a standardised registration card

A

Association of directors of social services and department of health have endorsed this card- for severely/partially sighted
proof of registrants status when applying for benefits
the fact that they do have a sight impairment and may need help/assistance
and also as an ID card

what are the different benefits u should know of

A

Attendance Allowance – disability benefit for people who have a disability from age 65

Disability Living Allowance – disability benefit for people who claim before age 65

Pension Credit – an income-based benefit for older people on a low income or with modest retirement income and savings

Income Support – an income-based benefit for people under 60 who have a low income or no other income

Incapacity Benefit – for people of working age who are unable to work due to disability or illness

Carer’s Allowance – for the carer of a person with a disability receiving the relevant disability benefit
Benefits for children - for children with sight problems and additional disabilities

Council Tax – help with your Council Tax bill

Tax Credits – payments from the Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, for people who work or have children

Health Benefits - getting help with NHS costs

Money for pensioners with sight problems – benefits and concessions for people of pensionable age.
