What does Elastic mean in Physics?
Elastic is when an object can return to its original shape and size after being stretched
What does Inelastic mean in Physics?
Inelastic is when an object is overstretched and cannot go back to its original shape, and stay deformed. Due to being overstretched.
What is a vector quantity?
A vector quantity is any quantity that has magnitude and direction, such as displacement or velocity. Vector quantities are represented by mathematical objects called vectors. Geometrically, vectors are represented by arrows, with the end marked by an arrowhead.
What is a scalar quantity?
A scalar quantity is the same as vector but only magnitude.
According to Hooke’s law, when stretching strings, and changing the string diameter will it go down further than the starting height or remain the same?
The string will be lower than the starting height.
What is Energy measured in?
Energy is measured in Joules
What is Hooke’s law in Physics?
Hooke’s law is the force required to stretch an elastic object such as a metal spring.
What are 3 main forces in Physics?
Push, Pull, and Twist
What is a contact force?
When external forces are applied.
What is a non-contact force?
When there are no external forces applied.
What is Hooke’s law measured in?
Newtons
List 3 non contact forces
gravitational force, electrostatic force, magnetic force, strong nuclear force, and weak nuclear force.
List 2 contact forces
Friction, normal contact
What is the equation for Elastic Potential?
Ee = ½ × k × e2
What is Elastic Potential?
This is energy stored as a result of applying force to deform an object.
