EP's Flashcards
When JFS is running and an emergency condition develops:
• STARTER SWITCH - OFF
If JFS does not shutdown with STARTER switch or if AMAD FIRE PUSH light comes on
- AMAD FIRE PUSH LIGHT – LIFT GUARD and PUSH
* DISCHARGE SWITCH – DISCHARGE
If JFS does not shut down after actuating fire extinguisher
• Using short burst, Discharge CO2, HALON, or CB FIRE EXTINGUISHER INTO JFS INLET WHILE FACING AFT. DO NOT START JFS
If Left or Right engine is cranking and an Emergency develops
- L/R THROTTLE – OFF
- L/R ENG MASTER – OFF
- STARTER – OFF
For fire in engine compartment; noted by ground observer or steady red ENG light:
- L/R ENGINE FIRE PUSH LIGHT – LIFT GUARD & PUSH
- DISCHARGE SWITCH – DISCHARGE
- L/R THROTTLE – OFF
- L/R ENG MASTER – OFF
- STARTER SWITCH – OFF
If Left or Right engine is running and AMAD FIRE PUSH light and / or either L/R ENGINE FIRE PUSH light comes on:
- AMAD or EITHER L/R ENGINE FIRE PUSH LIGHT – LIFT GUARD & PUSH
- DISCHARGE SWITCH – DISCHARGE
- L/R THROTTLE – OFF
- L/R ENGINE MASTER – OFF
- STARTER – OFF
If left or right engine is running at max power and either L/R BURN THRU light comes on:
- L/R Throttle – MIL
- If L/R BURN THRU LIGHT DOES NOT GO OUT:
- THROTTLE – OFF
- L/R ENGINE MASTER – OFF
- Make sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before trying to restart engines
Hot Start JFS engaged: If FTIT is above 500 degrees while N2 RPM is less than 40%, flames are seen coming from exhaust nozzle, or FTIT is rapidly climbing through 580 degrees C:
- L/R Throttle – OFF
- L/R ENGINE FIRE PUSH LIGHT – LIFT GUARD & PUSH
- CONTINUE TO MOTOR ENGINE WITH JFS UNTIL FTIT IS 200 DEGREES C OR JFS ENGAGEMENT TIME REACHES 150 SECONDS
- If not able to Motor Engine, Be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before trying to restart engines
Hot Start JFS disengaged: If N2 rpm reaches 50 to 60 percent then decreases while FTIT is stable or increasing:
- L/R Throttle – OFF
- L/R ENGINE FIRE PUSH LIGHT – LIFT GUARD & PUSH
- L/R ENGINE MASTER – OFF
- IF STARTER READY LIGHT IS NOT ON: DO THE BELOW
- STARTER Switch – ON
- When N2 RPM IS 40 % or LESS, JET FUEL STARTER HANDLE – PULL
- IF STARTER READY LIGHT IS ON, CONTINUE
- L/R ENGINE MASTER – ON
- WHEN N2 RPM IS 30 % OR LESS, FINGER LIFT – LIFT
- CONTINUE TO MOTOR ENGINE WITH JFS UNTIL FTIT IS 200 DEGREES C OR JFS ENGAGEMENT TIME REACHES 150 SECONDS
- If not able to Motor Engine, Be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before trying to restart engines
For internal engine fire after shutdown:
- Make sure throttles are in the OFF position
- L/R ENGINE FIRE PUSH LIGHT – LIFT GUARD & PUSH
- L/R ENGINE MASTER – OFF
- STARTER switch – ON
- When N2 RPM IS 40 % or LESS, do the below:
- JET FUEL STARTER HANDLE – PULL
- L/R ENG MASTER switch - ON
- WHEN N2 RPM IS 30 % OR LESS, FINGER LIFT – LIFT
- Dry motor engine until FIRE is out or JFS engagement time gets to 150 seconds
- If Fire cannot be blown out, DISCHARGE FIRE EXTINGUISHER into exhaust and / or inlet to extinguish fire
For engine shut down after operating above 700 degrees without cool down period:
• STARTER switch – ON
• When N2 RPM IS 40 % or LESS, do the below:
• JET FUEL STARTER HANDLE – PULL
• L/R ENG MASTER switch - ON
• WHEN N2 RPM IS 30 % OR LESS, FINGER LIFT – LIFT
• Dry motor engine until FTIT is less than 200 Degrees C or JFS engagement time gets to 150
seconds
• If not able to Motor Engine, Be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before trying to restart engines
For no engine shutdown with throttle or Auto Acceleration:
- L/R Throttle – OFF
- L/R ENGINE FIRE PUSH LIGHT – LIFT GUARD & PUSH
- L/R ENGINE MASTER – OFF
- IF FTIT IS ABOVE 500 DEGREES C, DO THE BELOW
If engine flames out:
- L/R Throttles – OFF
- If FTIT remains above 500 degrees C:
- Motor Engine with JFS UNTIL FTIT is 200 Degrees C or less, or JFS Engagement reaches 150 Seconds
- If not able to Motor Engine, Be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before trying to restart engines
Engine STALL or STAGNATION recovery procedures:
- If ENGINE STALLS – SNAP THROTTLE TO IDLE
- If STALL CLEARS DO EVENT CODE 1020
- If ENGINE STAGNATES – THROTTLE OFF
- IF FTIT remains above 500 degrees C:
- Motor Engine with JFS UNTIL FTIT is 200 Degrees C or less, or JFS Engagement reaches 150 Seconds
- If not able to Motor Engine, Be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before trying to restart engines
Recovery from ENGINE OVERTEMP
- IF FTIT EXCEEDS OPERATING LIMITS – SNAP THROTTLES TO IDLE (MIL IF IN AB)
- IF FTIT DOES NOT DROP AFTER SNAP TO MIL – SNAP THROTTLE TO IDLE
- IF FTIT STILL EXCEEDS LIMITS: THROTTLE – OFF
- IF FTIT remains above 500 degrees C:
- Motor Engine with JFS UNTIL FTIT is 200 Degrees C or less, or JFS Engagement reaches 150 Seconds
- If not able to Motor Engine, Be sure N1 and N2 rotors turn freely before trying to restart engines
- IF FTIT Exceeds operating limits, do Event code 1070
