EP Flashcards
CLEAR ENGINE PROCEDURE / ABNORMAL START / TP FIRE ON SHUTDOWN
- Throttle - OFF
EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN/EGRESS
- Throttle - OFF
- ENGINE switch - OFF
- FUEL SHUTOFF handle - PULL
- Ejection seats - SAFE
- BATT switches - OFF
ENGINE FAILURE
If below 1,500 feet AGL and airspeed below 180 KIAS:
1. Eject
Otherwise:
2. Execute AIRSTART
AIRSTART
- Emergency oxygen green ring(s) - PULL
- Throttle - OFF
Simultaneously perform steps *3 and *4. - GTS start button - PRESS
- Throttle - IDLE
If unsuccessful (no relight within 30 seconds after moving throttle to idle or stabilized EGT exceeds limits): - Throttle - OFF (allow 30 seconds to drain if practical)
If above 13% RPM and 250 KIAS , repeat straps *3 and *4. Otherwise, proceed to step 6.
COMPRESSOR STALL OR EGT/RPM WARNING LIGHT
- Throttle - IDLE
- EGT/RPM - CHECK
If EGT is greater than 450ºC for more than 6 seconds at idle: - Execute Engine Failure procedure
If EGT responds normally: - Throttle - Slowly advance to minimum for safe flight
- Minimize throttle movements
ABORT
- Throttle - IDLE
- Speed brakes - EXTEND
- Brakes - APPLY
- Hook - DOWN (IF REQUIRED)
- BRAKES - Release prior to crossing the arresting gear
EMERGENCY CATAPULT FLYAWAY
- Throttle - MRT
- Maintain 24 units AOA
If engine failed, or unable to stop settle: - Eject
BRAKE FAILURE - ASHORE / SKID CAUTION
If flyaway airspeed available:
1. Go-around
If flyaway airspeed not available, or during taxi:
1. Throttle - IDLE
2. Brakes - RELEASE
3. Anti-skid switch - OFF
4. BRAKES - Apply Gradually
If brakes still unavailable:
5. Hook - DOWN (if required)
6. Parking brake handle - PULL (if required)
BRAKE FAILURE - AFLOAT
- Throttle - IDLE
- Parking brake handle - PULL
- Hook - DOWN
- Transmit
LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL
If flyaway airspeed available:
1. Go-around
If flyaway airspeed not available:
2. Abort
If blown tire suspected:
3. BRAKES - RELEASE
4. Anti-skid switch - OFF
5. BRAKES - Apply Gradually
If NWS failure suspected:
6. Paddle switch - PRESS
ASYMMETRIC FLAPS/SLATS
- FLAPS/SLATS leverage - RETURN TO PREVIOUS SETTING
DEPARTURE/SPIN PROCEDURE
- Controls - NEUTRALIZE / FORCIBLY
CENTER RUDDER PEDALS - Speed brakes - RETRACT
- Throttle - IDLE
- Check altitude, AOA, airspeed, and turn needle
If spin confirmed:
INVERTED (AOA pegged at 0 units): - Rudder pedal - FULL OPPOSITE TURN NEEDLE
- Lateral stick - FULL OPPOSITE TURN NEEDLE
- Longitudinal stick - NEUTRALIZE
UPRIGHT (AOA above 28 units): - Rudder pedal - FULL OPPOSITE TURN NEEDLE
- Lateral stick - FULL WITH TURN NEEDLE
- Longitudinal stick - NEUTRALIZE
If recovery indicated or airspeed increasing through 160 KIAS: - Lateral stick - NEUTRALIZE
When recovery indicated: - Rudder pedals - SMOOTHLY CENTER
If out of control passing through 10,000 feet AGL - EJECT
TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE
- Emergency oxygen green ring(s) - PULL
ADVERSE PHYSIOLOGICAL SYMPTOMS
If above 10,000 feet cabin altitude:
1. Emergency oxygen green ring(s) - PULL
2. OBOGS FLOW selector(s) - OFF
3. Descend below 10,000 feet cabin altitude
RAPID DECOMPRESSION
- Emergency oxygen green ring(s) - PULL
- OBOGS FLOW selector(s) - OFF
- Descend below 10,000 feet cabin altitude
