Why do we need Inter-Governmental orgsnisations?
They are needed in order to allow states to cooperate and coordinate in specific fields while retaining their sovereignty. And in order to help to hold states/ individuals accountable for injustice- can act to foster peace and uphold international law.
What is a super power?
A superpower is an extremely powerful country, especially one capable of influencing international events and the acts and policies of less powerful countries. Its power can be felt all over the world.
What areas do Inter-Governmental Organisations cover?
There are five main areas inwhich the organisations cover these are Security, Trade, The Environment, Economic and Health.
What is nuclear power?
Nuclear power is electric or motive power generated by a nuclear reactor/ reaction.
What factors make a country a superpower
Military power, political power, soft power, rescources, population, economic power, size.
When refering to security what do Inter-Governmental Organisations actually do?
They maintain power by:
* Applying sanctions (such as
banning trade or refusing
citizens entry)
* Authorising the use of
military force against a
country
* Authorising a UN Peace
keeping Force.
What are some pros and cons of using nuclear power?
Pros: little greenhouse gas emmisions, fuel efficient, resilient in times of extreme weather, low operating costs, job intensive
Cons: Accidents could emit radioactive materials, no good solution for disposing of radioactive waste, it is not renewable.

- Overriding purpose is to help trade flow as freely as possible — so long as
there are no undesirable side effects - To abolish or reduce trade barriers

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is an organization of 189 countries, working to foster global monetary cooperation, secure financial stability, facilitate international trade, promote high employment and sustainable economic growth, and reduce poverty around the world.
When refering to health what is the purpose of Inter-Governmental Organisations?
Responsibilities are to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable. Our goal is to ensure that a billion more people have universal health coverage, to protect a billion more people from health emergencies, and provide a further billion people with better health and well-being.
How did the British Empire (BE) become so advanced an powerful?
The BE became powerful because of its Technological and industrial superiority e.g it was the first nation to harness the power of steam which in turn would unleash an Industrial Revolution and an avalanche of high quality, mass-produced goods that would flood the markets around the world. They, in turn, would provide a technology gap that non-European nations would find difficult to compete with.
