EOS joint range of movement Flashcards
pain in their right leg
measure right hip abduction
intro
drape leg that is not being tested.
shuffle onto one side of bed test left leg first (unaffected)
test right leg - The patient is supine and the pelvis is level. Place goniometer on ASIS and measure till midline of patella.
contralateral lower extremity may be positioned in hip abduction with the knee flexed over the edge of the plinth and the foot supported on a stool
expected range = 45 degrees.
pain in right leg
measure right hip external rotation
intro
drape if needed
test unaffected leg first
expected range = 45 degrees
pain in right hip
measure right hip extension
intro
drape
ask for pain
two pillows on bed, have patient lie in prone over the two pillows OR raise plinth to appropriate height for patient to learn over with bent knee and ask them to lift leg upwards.
The axis is placed over the greater trochanter of the femur, measure to lateral epicondyle.
pain in right knee
measure right knee flexion
prone?
pain in right ankle
measure right ankle plantarflexion
intro
drape
towel under knee
supine or sitting?
Plantarflexion—Knee flexion, toe flexion.
The axis is placed inferior to the lateral malleolus. This measurement may also be obtained by placing the axis inferior to the medial malleolus.
stationary arm - Parallel to the longitudinal axis of the fibula, pointing toward the head of the fibula.
moveable arm - Parallel to the sole of the heel
pain in right shoulder
measure right shoulder internal rotation
intro
drape
In supine with the shoulder in 90° abduction: elbow extension, scapular depression, and shoulder adduction. In sitting with the arm at the side: scapular depression, shoulder adduction, and trunk rotation.
