Enzymes Flashcards
What enzyme breaks down maltose and what does it form?
Maltase and it forms sugar
What breaks down protein and what does it turn it into?
Amino Acid and was change by the enzyme protease
Where is the locstion of Pepsin and Trypsin?
Pepsin in the stomach and trypsin in the small intestine
What breaks down fat and what is it product?
Lipase, makes Fatty Acid and Glycerol
Where is the secreated location of Amylase?
Salivary glands, pancreas and small intestine
Where is the secreted location of protein?
Stomach, pancreas and small intestine
Where is the location of the secreted Glucose
Pancrease and small intestine
Where is the secreted Fat?
Small intestine and pancreas
What is the limiting factor of photosynthesis?
Light intensity, Carbon Dioxide concentration and Temperature.
What is transpiration?
The evaporation of water molecules from the surface of mesophyll cells in leaves followed by diffusion of water vapour through the stomata
What is cohesion?
The water molecules tends to stick to each other
What is adhesion?
Molecules of water tend to stick to the inside of the xylem vessel
What are the enviromental factors that affect transpiration?
Humidity, temperature and wind velocity
Why do plants need magnesium ions?
magnesium makes the chlorophyll color green that’s how it’s able to photosynthesis
Why do plants need nitrate?
To build protein and growth
The amino acid contains nitrogen therefore nitrate is needed
What is plasma?
It’s the yellowish liquid portion of the blood that transport ions, soluble nutrients, CO2 and hormones in the blood cells
What is red blood cells?
Carry oxygen from your lung to heart than to muscle
Helps to remove CO2
Contain Haemoglobin which combines with oxygen
no nucleaus and a concave shape to give space for oxygen
What is the white blood cells?
Part of the immune system
Protects the body from infections
They can engulf the pathogen and phagocytes destroy it from the inside
Lymphocytes makes anti-bodies to fight of infections
What is a platelets?
Helps the glood to clots if you get hurt
Prevent pathogens and blood lost
Fibrin molecules was made and have a mesh like structure
Red-blood cell get trapped in the mesh creating a clot
Which enzyme breaks down starch and what does it break down it into?
Amylase, breaks down into maltose
Why does our body needs carbohydrates?
It has starch and sugar, which is the neccessary components for respiration in our body. As a result, we are able to have energy to run around all day.
Why do our body needs water?
It’s needed for chemical reactions to take place in solution, also waste chemical are passed out through our body as a form of water like faeces, urine and sweat.
Why do we need fibre?
It helps the movement of food in the alimentary canal, also absorbs poisonous waste from bacteria in our gut, fibre helps to reduce the risk of heart disease and bowel cancer.
