What is a EVS (key term)?
A worldview or paradigm that shapes the way an individual or group of people perceive and evaluate environmental issues (influenced by inputs).
Which were the two main environmental thought schools during 19th century?
Preservationists - based on the intrinsic value of nature;
Conservationists - based on the value of goods and services provided by nature.
Which were the major environmental international agreements?
Montreal Protocol, Kyoto Protocol, Treaty on POPs, CITES, UN Convention on the Law of Seas.
Which are the EVS main approaches?
Ecocentrism (deep and soft ecologist); anthropocentrism; technocentrism (environmental manager and cornucopian).
Which are the two main approaches to the value of the ecosystem?
Intrinsic value (tangible) and Instrumental value (intangible).
What is biodiversity?
A broad concept encompassing the total variety of living systems.
