Environmental Limitations Flashcards
What is the maximum crosswind limit for takeoff and landing ?
35 kts
What is the maximum tailwind limit for takeoff and landing ?
10 kts
Take-off with flap setting 0 is not allowed if more than 25% of the runway is covered with….?
3 mm standing water
What is the maximum crosswind limit for CAT 1 ILS approaches (precision approach) where the visibility is less than 1200m ?
30kts
What is the maximum crosswind limit for non-grooved, wet runways operations ?
30kts
Take Off is PROHIBITED unless the flight crew has ensured that the wings, tail, control surfaces, engine inlets and other critical surfaces of the airplane are free of …… ?
Ice, frost and snow
Dispatch with only frost at the underside of the wing is allowed, provided that the frost layer does not extend outside the fuel tank area and its thickness does not exceed …. ?
3mm
What are the crosswind Limitations in the following emergencies:
1. Double aileron fault
2. Total hydraulic failure
3. Fuel asymmetry
Double aileron fault = 15 kts
Total hydraulic failure = 10 kts
Fuel asymmetry = 20 kts
How do you determine the rainfall rate in the last 10 mins ?
Light < 0.4 mm
Moderate 0.4 - 1.6 mm
Heavy > 1.6 mm
Landing on other than dry runways how is rainfall considered ?
Light = No problem
Moderate = only in CTA if LDR < LDA
Heavy = only in CTA if LDR < LDA
What consittutes a contaminated runway ?
Standing water more than 3mm deep covering more that 25% of the runway surface to be used.
Assessed by flight crew after lining up on takeoff runway.
What consittutes a damp runway ?
Surface is not dry, but moisture on it does not give shiny appearance. Considered to be wet for performance calculations
What is the earliest point after takeoff that tail anti ice can be selected ?
After climb thrust is set
When exiting icing conditions with only engine anti ice on, wait how long before turning off ?
1 minute, or in any case, after the MFDU icing alert has ceased
What is the Maximum Operating Temperature for take Off, Flight and Landing with Air Conditioning operative ?
ISA +35ºC
