A nonprofit dedicated to improving med safety, adherance, and appropriate use.
ASHP
American Society of Health-System Pharmacists
A professional org that represents pharmacists.
Provides numerous accreditation programs and is the only nationally recognized nongovernmental, nonprofit association that accredits residency programs and pharm tech training programs.
NABP
The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy
A nonprofit initially established to assist the state boards of pharmacy in creating uniform education and licensure standards. Currently, supports patient and drug safety through exams that assess pharmacist competency, license transfer & verification services, and various accreditation programs.
FDA
The US Food & Drug Administration
Ensures the safety, efficacy, and security of food, drugs, biologic products, radioactive products, medical devices, and cosmetics.
They regulate the manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of those products as well as tobacco.
DEA
The Drug Enforcement Administration
Established to enforce the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 and bring those involved in the illegal growing, manufacturing, or distribution of controlled substances to the criminal and civil justice systsems.
