Entering/Departing the Mess

Question 1

The Lead Selectee will then enter the Mess, acknowledge the most senior Chief Petty Officer in the room and request to enter using the following phrase:

Answer 1

“Honorable/More Honorable/Most Honorable and all Knowing (insert name here), the FY-24 Chief Petty Officer Selectees request permission to enter the hallowed halls of the Chief Petty Officer Mess. Our Spirit is humble, and our minds are open to receive your wisdom.”

Question 2

If you receive permission to enter. Selectees will fall into an appropriate military formation in front of the assembled August Body, and the Lead Selectee will state the following:

“FY-24 Chief Petty Office Selectees all present and accounted for (or state member missing with an explanation as applicable).”

Question 3

Upon completion of any organizational meeting or training session with the CPO Mess, when advised by the Training Chairman, selectees will come to attention and sound off in the following manner:

“FY-24 Chief Petty Officer Selectees very respectfully request permission to depart the hallowed halls of the Chief Petty Officer Mess. Thank you for this training. We have greatly enjoyed this training and look forward to another. Same time, same place, same Selectees, only smarter!”
