Transmission and life cycle:
A
Cysts and trophozoites are passed in feces. You ingest cysts and excystation occurs releasing trophozoites.
Trophozoites multiply by binary fission and replicate in either trophozoites or cysts.
Can become invasive!

Diagnosis:

Microscopy:
- hard to distinguish from dispar. Histolytica is able to ingest red blood cells.
Molecular:
- PCR
Serological:
- Antibodies only if parasite becomes invasive.
