First line Abx for tonsilitis?
A
Phenoxymethylpenicillin.
The Centor criteria are: score 1 point for each (maximum score of 4)
- presence of tonsillar exudate
- tender anterior cervical lymphadenopathy or lymphadenitis
- Fever
- absence of cough

Viral labyrinthitis vs vestibular neuritis?
A
Viral labyrinthitis is characterised by sudden onset horizontal nystagmus, hearing disturbances, nausea, vomiting and vertigo.
Vestibular neuritis has very similar presentations to viral labyrinthitis but does not cause hearing loss.

Finding on weber’s test for conductive and sensorineural hearing loss?
A
- In unilateral sensorineural deafness, sound is localised to the unaffected side.
- In unilateral conductive deafness, sound is localised to the affected side.
