Torticollis

A

Causes of acquired torticollis include:
1. Muscle spasm (wry neck)
2. Trauma: fracture/dislocation, spinal haematoma
3. Atlantoaxial rotary subluxation/fixation
4. Infection: head and neck, spine, CNS or upper lobe chest
5. Inflammation: juvenile idiopathic arthritis
6. Neoplasm: CNS (posterior fossa) and bone tumours
7. Dystonic syndromes (idiopathic spasmodic torticollis, drug reactions)
8. Ocular dysfunction
9. Benign paroxysmal torticollis
