who was john locke?

A

john locke was a philosopher during the enlightenment period in europe. he believed in the three main things, life, liberty and property. these are what he thought were what all humans were born with. all humans are born free and equal. governments in his eyes were expected to give the citizens all this and if they failed to do so the citizens should have the opportunity to overthrow the government.

who was thomas hobbes?

A

work: leviathan (1651)
he believed all humans were selfish and wicked. he believed there should be total monarchy and without it he said “war… if every man against every man.” he thought people should give up all their rights.
