A round character
Highly developed character with many traits
Character
An individual who participate in action of a literary work
Flat character
Character that exhibits few traits not well developed and know very little about them
Dynamic character
One who changes through out the story
Static character
One who remains the same though out the story
Direct characterization
The author tells you what that person is like
Indirect characterization
You find out about a character by there physical appearance, thoughts speech and action or by what other characters say about them
Internal conflict
Conflict that happens inside a character
External conflict
Character that has a conflict with an outside force
Plot
The sequence of events in a story
Setting
Time in place of an action in a work
Theme
Underlying message about life or human nature shared to the reader. Generally not stated directly.
Allusion
Is an indirect reference to a famous person, place, event, or literary work
Diction
Writers or speakers choice of words and way of arranging he words in sentences
Foreshadowing
Is a writers use of hints or clues to suggest events that will occur later in the story
Protagonist
Is the main character in a work of literature
Antagonist
Is a principal character in opposition to a protagonist
Tone
The attitude the writer takes to a subject
Foil
Character who provides a striking contrast to another character
