When do we use past simple?

A

We can use simple past for:

  • For completed actions in the past at a fixed time (Azioni completate)
  • For repeated actions in the past (Azioni ripetute in passato)
  • To describe past states (Stati passati)
  • For Actions which happened in the past one after the other (azioni che si sono susseguite in passato, una dopo l’altra)

A

We use past continuous for:

  • A past action which was taking place at a certain time and was continuing (Azione passata che è continuata per un po’ di tempo)
  • For an action which was interrupted by another action (azione interrotta da un’altra azione)
