What is Alliteration?
The repetition of the same consonant sound at the beginning of words in close proximity
an example of this: Red raw rum
What is Analogy?
A comparison of words being used to explain the concept of voice in the writing
an example: raw and runny
What is an antagonist?
The character who opposes the protagonist
What is Conflict?
a struggle between two opposing forces
reminder, if there aren’t both sides then it ISNT conflict
what is Hyperbole
intended exaggeration used to create a desired effect, that is mainly used as a form of humour or sarcasm
an example: im starving to death
what is dramatic irony?
When the character knows something that the others does not
what is Verbal Irony?
a form of speech in which what is said, is different then what is intended
What is situational Irony?
an unexpected event that occurs, in the sense that it somehow in absurd or mocking opposition to what would be expected or appropriate
What is first person?
only knowing the thoughts and feelings of one person
what is third-person limited?
the author knows everything about the character, however, is limited and can only be described as what they have heard or seen
What is third-person omniscient?
usually the audience knows everything including their thoughts and feelings
what is personification?
when inanimate objects are giving human characteristics
an example: The ocean cried and wailed
what is Onomatopoeia?
when the words are used to imitate the sounds they describe
example: Boom, achoo
what is tone?
the attitude of the author
what the authour wants you to feel
Bandwagon
The claim that a product is desirable because desirable people use it
Blog
A website that contains personal information matter
Brochure
usually, a booklet of printed information matter, that explains in depth or a short description of a place or thing
Caption
The words beneath a photo that explain the subject and gives background information
commercial
A television or radio advertisement
Emotional appeal
plays upon the emotion of the audience
shock appeal
using shocking images and videos to advertise a product
headline
the heading, title or caption of a newspaper article, usually attention-grabbing
icon
the small picture or symbol serving as a quick representation of a software tool
Logo
An identifying symbol serving use to advertise or promote an organization
