What is a simile?
A compariosn where one thing is compared to another, using the words like or as.
Example:The soap was AS slippery as an eel.

A comparison where one thing is said to actually be another.
Example:School is hell.

When you assign the qualities of a person to something that isn’t human or,in some cases,to something that isn’t even alive.
Example:The trees danced in the wind.

The repetition of the same sound at the begging of words to create an effect.
Example:slimy snakes.

A word that imitates sound

Listing three things to create a specific effect
Example:guttering,chocking
What is language for emotive effect?
Words and phrases deliberately used to provoke a specific emotional reaction.
Example: The poor and innocent dog was beaten by the sick twisted man.
What is a rhetorical question?
A question that is asked for effect rather that for an answer.
Example:who wants to look at something like that?
