Fast fashion has been a concerning issue for many years and it’s negative impacts on poverty as well as human is making many reconsider. The fast fashion industry is associated with cheap trendy clothes inspired by celebrities and recent catwalk trends that are mass produced at low cost and bringing them into retail outlets quickly
Part 2 (Cons of FF)
These brands are producing their clothes in countries like China where they may enforce unreasonable quotas and exploit cheap labour to meet the YOUR rapidly changing demand, hence resulting in poor work conditions, unavailable wages, human rights violations and over production- promotes throwaway society
Part 3 (China overview)
85% of China’s population in poverty live in rural areas. Chinese citizens often travel to seek better work opportunities and escape poverty, these citizens in need if better opportunities are often not protected legally from horrific working conditions
Part 4 (Sweat factories)
Additionally speedy production is crucial in fast fashion, as a result factories that employ these workers are Sweat factories that are crowded with poor ventilation, little to no breaks, inadequate work space and uncomfortable High or low temperatures
Part 5 (Modern day slavery)
In 2018 the Global Slavery Index determined that garments are one of the TOP 5 imported goods at risk of being produced by trafficked labours and in 2023 $468 BILLION of garments imported in the G20 are at risk of modern day slavery

Are YOU really comfortable wearing and buying clothes that are a product of human trafficking?
YOUR demand for faddish clothing contributes to these exploitations
Part 7 (Help)
Now how can YOU help stop this catastrophe?
1. By shopping from sustainable brands that keep in mind the environment + Staff when producing
2. By upcycling your clothes, creating a style you identify with
3. THE SIMPLEST option just reuse by buying a few high quality clothes that will last you the next 5 years. It’s possible and evidence of it is your school uniform which many don’t replace and some even are wearing hand me downs from 2 Siblings ago
