 first person
Someone directly involved in the story(usually protagonist) (we,me, us). Only explains what they experience.
First person observer
A minor character is an narrator in the story
Second person
Used to give orders, commands (you) (stories are not usually written in second person)
Third person narration
Someone outside the story(she/he, it, they)
Third person omniscient
Narrator knows everything about everyone and the events. Knows thoughts/feelings of characters. (omniscient= all knowing)
Third person limited omniscient
Tells the story to the thoughts/feelings of only one or a few characters
Third person Limited narration
The narrator cannot express the thoughts or feelings of any character. Instead, the narrator lies on what is directly expressed by the characters.

Metaphor
A comparison that implies a hidden connection between two things
Simile
A direct comparison between two things using like or as

2 or 2+ words in a row start with the same (he hates hats)
Onomatopoeia
A word that is an initiation of a sound represented (boom)
Imagery
Use of language to help the reader imagine the story
Irony
The opposite of what was expected actually happens
Verbal irony
When a person says one thing but means opposite
Situational irony
When the opposite of what is expected happens
Dramatic irony
When the audience knows something that the characters do not
Order of the plot graph
- Introduction./exposition.
