What is a metaphor
it is A direct comparison of unlike things that is short and vivid.
Example: When that man is woken from his sleep he is a bear.
What is a simile
It is An indirect comparison of unlike things using “like” or “as.”
Example: After hiking all day, Paul was as hungry as a bear.
What does personification mean
Giving human qualities to inanimate objects or abstract ideas.
What is the definition of hyperbole
it isnexaggerated statements. Ex) On this road cars go at 500 km/h
What is a resolution
It is The final part of a story that makes clear the outcome of the conflict.
What is an exposition
it is Information that is essential to understand the background of a story.
What is a Point of view
It is The angle from which the story is told.
- 1rst person : is in ( I )
- 2nd person : She/He/They
- 3rd person Limited : Centers one person thoughts and actions.
- 3rd person omniscient : Centers The thoughts of any and all Characters.
What is imagery
It is something that applies to the readers five senses. if it includes a metaphor, simile or personification it is considered as figurative imagery.
Ex)
- The sky is blue = literal imagery.
- The sunset was a watercolor painting = figurative imagery.
- The car is like the color of a lake. = figurative imagery
What does foreshadowing mean
it is the method of building in clues or hints about what is to come in a story.
What is a Plot
it is the sequence of related events or actions in a story.
What is the climax
it is the turning point where it is the most exciting and interesting part of the story.
What is a character
it is a person, animal, or thing presented as a person.
What is a Dynamic character
it is a character who undergoes an important change.
what is a Static Character
it is a character who does not change in any significant way.
What is theme
it is the central idea or underlying meaning about human nature that is developed in the story. A theme may be expressed directly or indirectly.
