A descriptive technique that compares one thing with another, this is using “as” or “like”.

A descriptive technique that names a person, thing or action as something else.
Metaphor
Obvious exaggeration for rhetorical effect.
Hyperbole
giving human attributes to an inanimate object.
personification
A type of personification where emotions are given to weather. the weather can often foreshadow future events.
Pathetic Fallacy
Words that sound like what they mean.
Onomatopoeia
a phrase containing two or more contradictory ideas or terms
Oxymoron
Language intended to create a personal and emotional response from the reader.

a personal view point, this is often presented as fact.
