What is active voice?
Where the subject of a verb is performing the action involved
What is author’s purpose?
The main aim or focus when creating a text.

The readers and or intended listeners of a subject.
What is context?
The setting and or given information of a story or written piece.
What is form?
The specific type of form that the text takes or the category being used in a text.
What is genre?
A subdivision of textual form determined by the text’s content
What is language?
writing in a formal, academic, or particularly polite tone
What is mood?
A grammatical feature through which a speaker or writer can express modality (i.e. an attitude
towards the content of an utterance).
What is morpheme?
Meaning and structure of words within their smallest unit.
What is passive voice?
Where the subject receives the action of a verb.
What is point of view?
The perspective of one in a story be it the one who is reading to the characters view itself.
Describe first person narrator
A mode in which the story is told from the main characters perspective (i.e. I, me, myself).
Describe third person narrator
When the narrator is outside of the story, often referring to the characters by name or pronouns.
Describe omniscient narrator
Where the narrator in a story knows all the thoughts, actions and feelings of the characters.
What is prose?
Ordinary language, without a rhyming pattern or rhythmic structure.

The variety of language used in a particular situation, particularly with regard to levels of formality.
what are rhetorical devices?
A technique used in a text to try and provoke a reaction from the reader.
what is a sentence structure?
The determiner for how different sentences are placed and are put together.

The way in which a text is ordered and organized.
What is style?
The distinctive overall effect produced by interactions between form, structure and language.
What is tone?
The emotion or attitudes associated with a spoken or written utterance.
