An adjective is a word that modifies or describes a noun or pronoun.

what is a pronoun
A pronoun is a word that people use to refer either to themselves (such as me and you) or to someone or something (like she, it, them, and this).
what is a Tragic hero
A main character who faces a downfall due to their own character flaws. They begin as noble/high ranking and fall from this high social status.
what does Manipulation mean
Harmfully influencing others for personal gain. The person doing the manipulating, called the manipulator, attacks individuals mentally and emotionally to get what they want.
what does Hubristic mean
Being overly proud or arrogant, often leading to a downfall. This character trait is damaging to the individual and those around them.

Effective or persuasive speaking/ writing using a variety of verbal and non-verbal methods.

A tragic flaw or mistake that contributes to a character’s downfall from noble status.
what does Antithesis mean
A person or thing that is the direct opposite of someone or something else e.g. Macduff is the antithesis of Macbeth.
what does Peripeteia mean
A sudden change of fortune for a character or reversal of their circumstances. In tragedy this is often a point from which the tragic hero can not return from.

A person who actively opposes or is hostile to someone or something e.g. Macduff opposes Macbeth’s reign.
what does Anagnorisis mean
When a character has a moment of realisation or discovery, often leading to a moment of clarity where they understand their fate.
what is a Protagonist
The leading or “main” character who drives the plot forward. They are central to the plot or conflict of the story, but are also usually the emotional heart of the narrative.
what does Symbol mean
A word/image/object that represents a deeper more figurative meaning beyond its literal interpretation.
what is a Motif
A recurring idea e.g. blood, sleep, children etc
